We refuse to imagine a Cameroon and an Africa where villages remain in darkness and small economic activities are held back by unreliable electricity.
This conviction inspired FLEC (Future Leaders for Energy in Communities) in 2016, a programme of the Centre for Communication and Sustainable Development for All (CECOSDA), a Cameroonian non-governmental organisation.
FLEC places young people at the heart of the energy transition: learning electrical and solar skills, developing creativity, innovating and creating businesses that respond to local needs.
Since 2019, FLEC has trained more than 6,000 young people.
With support from the Schneider Electric Foundation, a project trained 4,000 young people in 15 secondary schools and 5 university institutes, notably in solar installation and green entrepreneurship.
The Écopreneur237 network contributed to green entrepreneurship. Together with the National Employment Fund (FNE), FLEC also delivered training for job seekers and technicians.
Ages 7–15: little solar technicians, hands-on learning and yearly progression.
Ages 16–25: idea incubation, start-up development and solutions for rural economies.
The programme also includes group training in schools and communities, a network of technicians and experts, and knowledge-sharing meetings on sustainable energy.

To develop energy entrepreneurs and qualified technicians in every village, reaching the last mile with the skills to install, maintain and develop sustainable solutions.
The initiative begins in Cameroon with a long-term ambition to expand across Central Africa.
FLEC thanks the Schneider Electric Foundation, partner institutions and public authorities responsible for energy, education, vocational training, youth, the environment and entrepreneurship, as well as FNE and participating experts.
